Easy Methods to Raise Your Credit Score

Martha W Woodard asked:

If you’re thinking about owning a house, there’s a very important point that loan officers look at when deciding the loan rates of your loan. Your credit score. A credit score is a numerical description of your financial trustworthiness and usually range from 300 to 850. A high number shows potential lenders that your credit habits are admirable. It indicates you make your payments on time as agreed and are responsible with financial matters. You don’t max out your credit line. And there’s few or no derogatory marks on your free 3 credit bureau report. If you show a high rating, lenders are more willing to approve a loan request. It also means getting lower interest rates. But usually your credit score doesn’t come with these free annual reports. It needs to be ordered separately through the 3 credit bureaus. But there are free methods to obtain a credit score for free from the three bureaus. But it usually means signing up for a free trial membership to their credit monitoring program.

Which credit score to get

Each credit bureau produces their own score numbers, but you want to view is your FICO score. This is the score that most lenders utilize in making important loan decisions. Currently Equifax offers a FICO score. You can also go directly to FICO and order it there. FICO is a separate entity from the 3 agencies. The idea behind this is that creditors desire a large difference between your credit limit and your credit debt. But it won’t raise your rating. If your goal is to boost your rating, then you should go with the thirty percent formula and use less than 30 percent of the limit.

First get rid of the big mistakes

Significant mistakes on files gotten from the credit report on line offers include any errors that isn’t yours. Other items are accounts listed as unpaid or were in collections more than seven years ago. Derogatory marks prior to seven years are supposed to be removed from your files. In the case of bankruptcy filings, it lasts for ten. But continue using your oldest card accounts that don’t have bad marks. Just make a small purchase each month and pay it off each month.

Check the credit limits as well

Sometimes vendors report a smaller amount to the credit bureaus than the correct one. Ask the lender to correct this information. Also if there’s late payments indicated on your files, ask the vendor to delete them. Anything the credit agencies can’t confirm as accurate after a given period has to be erased from your report. ‘nudge nudge’ ‘wink wink’. But don’t go overboard with this method. Otherwise your claim will be seen as frivolous. First try disputing some of your oldest accounts with bad marks. Then wait a few months and challenge a few more.

Qualifying For a Bad Credit Mortgage – 5 Simple Steps

Maya Pavlovski asked:

1.Get yourself a free copy of your credit report. If you have been turned away from your bank for your credit history it is important to get a copy of your credit report. You can obtain a copy of your report for free from Veda Advantage. Peruse the report carefully. You are able to dispute the errors that you find on your credit report. To do so, you need to contact the credit provider who has placed the default on your report and provide the necessary evidence to have the default removed. It is best to wait in applying for a home loan until this is done. If however the report is correct, you now understand your situation and can decide what to do next.

2.Repay your outstanding defaults first Do not try to look for a home-loan while you still have unpaid defaults to other lenders. You need to clear your defaults first. Even if you have a formal arrangement in place like a part 9 debt agreement, you will not qualify for a home loan until the part 9 is paid out.

3.Do your homework before choosing to apply. Every home loan application that you make leaves a mark on your credit report. Lenders do not like to approve loans to people who have excessive credit report activity. Therefore research without applying first and only once you know what you want, then make a single application to the lender of your choice.

4. Save a deposit. Unlike lenders in the US, in Australia you will not be able to borrow 100% of the purchase price if you do not have a squeaky clean credit history. It does not matter that your default was small and is now paid off. Defaults stay on your credit report for up to five years after being paid. While some lenders offer Bad Credit Home Loans with 5% or 10% deposit, we do not recommend that you avail yourself of these. The interest rate that you can be charged on these is today around 13%-15%. They also come with very hefty fees and early repayment penalties. In order to qualify for a good value bad credit mortgage, you need to have at least 20% deposit plus funds towards stamp duty on purchase and other purchasing costs. This is a substantial amount of money and you need to be very disciplined and responsible in order to save a deposit. However unless you can discipline yourself to do this, you will not be able to take on the obligation of Mortgage Repayments.

5.Clean your credit over several years and refinance to a traditional Mortgage. Given that Bad Credit Mortgages are usually a little more expensive than a traditional home loan, it is important to do all you can in order to refinance to a traditional home loan ASAP. Providing you maintain a clean credit history with your new mortgage, once your default fall off your credit report you can re-apply to any traditional lender for a Good Credit Mortgage. You need to be very diligent, paying all your bills as they fall due in order to avoid a repeat problem.

Equifax Credit Report – Beware Of Scams

Arturo Ronzon asked:

There are credit reports produced yearly by consumer bureaus national. Equifax is one of the three companies that provide this report. In fact every American is entitled to three free copies of these reports yearly from the different consumer bureaus. The benefits of the Equifax credit report cannot be overstated – it is very important. But, you should be very careful about scams, guide that at all cost.

For instance there is only one website provided by the consumer companies for the application too receives a free copy of the annual credit. But, many other sites claim to give the free copy and even some sell these free copies to ignorant consumers that do not know this. You should get the right information to avoid being fooled by these scammers. Learn to tell the fake from the original copy.

Many methods are used to con ignorant consumers these days. For instance, a thief can apply for your credit report using your identity, with the purpose of knowing your Equifax credit report to process loans with your identity. They will not definitely escape with the money collected from the loan leaving the debt for you to pay. So, it’s always good to be informed about your credit report and always make sure you apply through the right channel whenever you do. Because if you visit a site that claims to help you get your credit report, you are only risking your personal information to fraudsters that can use it against you. The only website for the application of credit report is http://www.annualcreditreport.com beware of scams.

When you visit the wrong site offering you a free copy of the Equifax credit report any other one credit report, you’ll be asked to type in your personal information, after you do that you will not see your report instead they have gained access to your credit report and you know the rest of the story. A way out of this is to apply for a fraud alert that will keep you informed of any addition on your credit report but, we all have to apply the greatest caution when dealing with financial issues to avoid bankruptcy. BE WARNED.

Credit Report

Mike Clover asked:

What is in a Credit Report?

A Credit Report is a snapshot of your current obligations to creditors. These creditors include credit card companies, mortgage companies, banks, and retail stores. Lenders are permitted by law to check your credit report and review it in order to determine whether or not to grant it to you. In order to build a report all you have to do is establish it in the form of a bank loan, credit card account, car loan, mortgage, or student loan. Information on your report comes directly from you history with accounts you currently have outstanding loans with. Whether you pay your obligations on time or not, lenders will report that information to the credit bureaus.

There are four categories.

1. Your personal information: Your credit report identifies you will the following information.

o Your name

o Social Security number

o Current address

o Previous address

o Birth date

o Current employer and previous employers

o Phone number

2. Your Credit History: Your Credit History will show your payment history with current lenders such as:

o Credit Card companies

o Mortgage companies

o Retail stores

o Finance companies

3. Inquiries: This is where lenders are finance companies have requested your credit report. The rule of thumb is “the less inquiries the better.”

4. Public Records: Your credit report lists any obligations that may affect your credit including the following:

o Judgments

o Tax Liens

o Bankruptcies

Credit Reports are now available to any organization that is trying to grant you credit, or a company considering hiring you. Your Personal Credit Report is so important during this day and age that you need to have a current copy to see what they are seeing. Even landlords are pulling credit in order to grant you permission to rent from them. Remember that “your credit is your life.”

Your Credit Report, Obtain a Copy Without Lowering Your Score

Lindsey Sheer asked:

You may obtain a free copy of your credit report directly from the credit bureaus if you have been denied credit, insurance or employment within the last 60 days, are unemployed and plan on seeking employment within the next 60 days, suspect that your credit report is inaccurate because you may be a victim of fraud or are on public welfare assistance. Requesting your credit report under these circumstances will not cost you any points on your credit score.

The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACT Act) of 2003 was passed by the United States Congress. Because of this you are able to get one free copy of your credit report from each of the major credit bureaus per year. This also will not cost you any points to your credit score. You can request your credit report this way by logging on to the annual credit report website or by calling 877-730-4104.

Beware of the companies that advertise free credit reports. Most of them are giving you a free report based on you purchasing something from them. They may give you a free 7 or 10 day trial of a certain product and if you don’t contact them to cancel within the allotted time frame, you are charged a monthly fee.

Keep in mind that you can request your own credit report from the credit bureaus as many times as you want to without being penalized score wise. This is called a “soft inquiry”. When a lender accesses your credit through their software, it posts what is called a “hard inquiry” which will affect the credit score.

You can contact the credit bureaus directly to request your credit report. Charges will apply if you don’t qualify for a free report.

Credit Report Repair Services – Do They Really Work?

M Riley asked:

There are many options available when a person wants to repair their credit. Some people choose to use credit report repair services. These services can be very different and offer vastly different services. When selecting a repair service there will be some items that will need to be considered.

The cost of credit report repair services can vary greatly. When checking out a repair service it is important to find out what their entire fee will be. Some services charge an initial fee, a fee for each type of function they perform, and several hidden fees that can add up quickly. Getting a list of the prices that will be charged for each service provided will help to determine the overall cost of the service.

The level of service that is needed will greatly depend on the amount of repair that is required. With any service there will be a certain amount of work that you will have to do. In some cases, the service only sends letter to creditors disputing the debt. Since this has become a growing industry, many credit reporting agencies and creditors no longer accept the “canned” letters of dispute that these services send out.

Some services provide creditor negotiation. They will negotiate with creditors to get the debt lowered and assume the collection of the debt. These company often charge a smaller fee to the debtor and are sometimes connected to a collection agency. Their goal is to get all of the debts into one pot and create a payment plan that you can pay to pay the debts off.

When choosing a service it is important that they provide customer service on a twenty-four hour basis. When a person lives in one region and the service only is available during their working day, it can be difficult to get assistance when needed. If a service does not offer live customer support, they will not be available when you need to talk to them.

Prior to comparing credit report repair services you will want to get your credit history and identify an inaccuracies. Some agencies work only on the inaccuracies on a credit report and getting them removed from the credit history.

Can I Trust the Accuracy of a Free Credit Report Online?

Hector Milla asked:

Reporting services help the client know their viability for lines of credit such as loans. It is therefore important that the report is made with a remarkable quality of sensibility. Free credit reports take a lot of factors into account when working out your report including delinquent payments, the number of unused credit cards and other hard enquiries whose point is also known as permissible purpose.

Free credit report is easily accessible online but choosing the service that fits you as well as one which has reputability is important. One can learn of a firm’s character through the customer reviews it has so far received. These are posted in dedicated consumer sites and can help inform the consumer of what they need. Good firms meet industry standards and offer the client relevant advice as well as a remarkable service. Reporting companies will mostly advice the customer as to their terms and conditions. Companies with good records of service have favorable feedback from the market and their previous customers refer a lot of prospective business to them. Accurate information including relevancy of the client’s financial history is clearly conveyed.

Matters such as reducing the number of credit cards in your portfolio do not necessarily reduce your credit. Reputable firms inform you on more relevant factors and how to deal with the situation. Online consumer communities offer large amounts of knowledge from credit analysts and professionals who help in the location of accurate credit reporting. The analysts also offer necessary advice towards the management of personal credit lines thus helping in restoration to creditworthiness. Since creditworthiness is quite an important tool with which to charge the delivery of a partner in partnerships, it is therefore important that one keeps tabs of remarkable reporting firms.

The contacts of most reporting firms can be found in their online sites. These can help in getting immediate service and customer advice from the firm through phone calls or email. One can also open an account with the firm where only a few details are required including your email address, a password and an assigned pin number.

Credit Report – Your Personal Financial Profile

David T. Johnson asked:

A lot of people don’t know about their own credit report. Some people even don’t know that it even exists. Because of this, they tend to regularly neglect payments for their loans or their credit card bills. The result: a bad credit score. Basically, you have to remember that your score is your financial profile. It tells a lot about you financially and it is what determines whether creditors or lenders will approve you for the loan or the new credit card you applied for or not.

The credit report is what creditors take a look at in order to determine if you are risky to lend money to or not. This is what basically tells them that you are a good payer or you are a delinquent one. Even landlords take a look at their prospective tenant’s credit report to make sure that their future tenant will be able to pay the rent on time and also make sure that they will never run away in the middle of the night with payments worth 3 months rent.

As you can see, it is very important for you to make a good credit score by making a good credit report. Although the credit bureaus are the ones who make the report, you have to remember that they base the report on what you do financially.

In order to get a good credit report and a good credit score, you need to be able to make payments on or before the due date. By doing so, it will be recorded in the report and will have a positive impact on your credit score.

Basically, you alone are responsible on how your credit information will look like and how much credit score you have. If you are a good payer and you only made late payments once or twice, you will be able to get a positive report and score. In fact, if you are a good payer and you only have one late payment because of an unavoidable situation, then you can even have the negative report removed.

These are the things that you have to remember about credit report. It is your personal financial profile that you alone are responsible for making.

The better you pay off your credit card bills and your loans, the better your credit score will look like. So, you definitely need to take your repayments seriously. If a bill arrives, pay it off as soon as you can and never ever think about paying it off next week because you are lazy to get out of your couch and go to the bank. Your laziness may cost you your credit score and will give you a bad name in the eyes of your creditors.

These are the things that you need to remember about credit score, credit report and why it is very important for you to repay your bills on time.

However, there are times where your credit report might be bad even if you know you pay off your bills and loans on time. It may be caused by credit card fraud or it may be caused by mistakes made by the credit bureaus themselves. Just get a copy of your credit report and if you see any irregularities, dispute it, prove it and it will eventually clear up.

Your score is your financial profile. Always make sure that you have good credit in order for you to have more financial freedom by paying off your bills on time as well as constantly reviewing your credit report at least once a year.
